The days are lengthy and hot here in the Midwest and there’s no better way to cool off than a little lake time! Carlyle Lake is the perfect area to get some sun and some waves, especially when you make a stop by the Carlyle Sailing Association.
This non profit sailing organization started in 1971 and has committed to bringing education and fun to guests of the lake ever since then. Holding events every weekend and education sailing days, visitors to Carlyle Lake will find a variety of experiences for any skill and interest level.
Let’s say you’ve always wanted to learn how to sail but you don’t have the time (or funds!) to go buy a boat and learn how to sail it. Come to Sailing Day, where friendly sailors and skippers answer boat & sailing questions, and take visitors on boat rides. This is a free event so bring your sunscreen, lunch, and friends for an educational day on the water!
Or what if you are a qualified sailor and have the boat know-how, just not the boat? The Carlyle Sailing Association offers full day or part day rentals all 7 days a week. They offer boats of all sizes- from a 15ft catamaran, the “Hobie Wave”, to “Venture 21”, a 21ft day sailor.
Maybe you want to just spend some time floating on the beautiful Carlyle Lake, admiring the view. CSA offers a sign-up for those looking to help a boat-owner on a regular day sail or even during their many racing competitions.
Finally, maybe you even have your own boat and you’re looking for a competition to show off what you’ve got! Carlyle Sailing Association puts on a variety of sailing races each week. From the oldest of sea-dogs to the freshest of sailors, there’s a race for pretty much anyone!
Come cool off and spend a day of fun on the sun with the Carlyle Sailing Association on beautiful Carlyle Lake!
