How to Get Involved
Want to be cool and support life-changing programming for people with intellectual disabilities in Illinois? You’ve absolutely come to the right place. Getting involved in the Polar Plunge is easy, fun, and incredibly rewarding.
Step 1: Register. Sign up online for the Carlyle plunge location and officially become a Polar Plunge participant—and even better, a Plunge Influencer who helps spread the word. Many participants form teams with friends, family members, coworkers, or community groups to make it even more memorable.
Step 2: Fundraise. Once registered, start collecting donations to meet—and hopefully exceed—the $100 fundraising minimum. Share your story on social media, challenge friends, or host small fundraisers to build excitement. Every dollar raised directly supports Special Olympics Illinois athletes.

The building itself tells a story, having once served as Breese’s original City Hall, jail, library, and DMV—and today it’s been reimagined as a coffee shop, comfy bar, event venue, and community gathering space all in one. Igloos are Back for Intimate Group Gatherings
Winter just got a whole lot cozier with the return of heated igloos at Olde City Café and Bar. Perfect for group gatherings, celebrations, or unique date nights, each igloo comfortably seats up to 10 people and comes equipped with its own heater to keep everyone warm and relaxed.
Even better, full food and drink service is provided directly to your igloo, so there’s no need to step out into the cold. Guests can pre-order delicious options like charcuterie boards, cheese or chocolate fondue, and s’mores kits, along with fan-favorite appetizers, pizzas, and more. Festive holiday drink specials add extra cheer throughout the winter season.
To reserve your igloo, simply pay the $100 booking fee within a week at Olde City Café and Bar or via Venmo @oldecity. It’s a cozy, memorable way to enjoy winter with friends or family.
