Brrr… It’s enough to make sensible folks shiver! The annual Polar Plunge is coming to Clinton County, Illinois, February 23, 2019, so get ready to take a dip for a good cause.
Presented by Law Enforcement Torch Run and GEICO, the Polar Plunge is a great—though chilly!—opportunity to support Special Olympics. Each Plunge participant must raise a minimum of $100 in donations to gain the honor of taking a leap into the lake. Participants raising $100 will receive an official hooded sweatshirt (first come, first serve basis). There will be additional prizes for $250, $500 and $1000 levels.
Does the thought of frigid water make you freeze in your tracks? Not to worry. You can go for donuts! Held in conjunction with the Polar Plunge, the Dash for Donuts is a 5K run that challenges your speed as well as your ability to eat donuts. There will be donut stops along the race route and for each donut you consume, you’ll get a minute off your finishing time. Awards will be given for the top three individuals in each age category. Now that’s a race to love!
