It’s largemouth bass versus high school’s top fishers in the annual IHSA Bass Fishing State Tournament on May 20-21, 2016. If you enjoy sport fishing, this is a great weekend to head out to Carlyle Lake, the site of the tourney and the largest man-made lake in the state.
More than 260 schools will be divided into 22 sectionals for the two-day fishing competition, hosted by the City of Carlyle. Here’s a brief outline of the schedule.
Thursday
8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. , safety checks for boats, followed by pre-fishing.
5:30 p.m., safety meeting for coaches and participants
Friday and Saturday
6:00 a.m. – 6:30 a.m., check-in
7:00 a.m., release of boats
3:00 p.m., Flight 1 boats return
3:15 p.m., Flight 2 boats return
3:30 p.m., Flight 3 boats return
